“Mother and Child” was one of Pablo Picasso’s recurring themes that began 1921 during one of his “classic” periods and encompassed more than a dozen paintings in the years that followed. This original cubist piece is dated May 7, 1936. That it is likely to be found to be authentic is suggested both by Sam Salz Gallery certificate verso that both names it “Mother and Child” by and dates it 1936, and also by the Museo de Arte Contemporaneo authentication certificate verso.
